ADU on Acreage
Luxury ADU Design On Acreage
Nestled in the scenic slopes of Loma Prieta, this high-end ADU design is a masterpiece of craftsman design that perfectly balances form and function. At 2,400 square feet spread across two stories, this residence pushes the boundaries of what’s possible in accessory dwelling construction, offering sophisticated living spaces that adapt to changing needs.
The heart of this home showcases extraordinary craftsmanship with handmade timber-framed trusses crafted from clear pine, creating an awe-inspiring ceiling design. A dramatic 12-foot window wall opens to connect indoor and outdoor living spaces, while covered porches wrapped around the home provide year-round outdoor enjoyment.
Innovative ADU Design Solutions
The interior features an ingenious open floor plan with movable walls on the ground floor, allowing spaces to transform from intimate bedroom settings to expansive living areas. The gourmet kitchen stands as a showpiece with handpicked custom granite countertops, complemented by acid-stained concrete floors that add industrial elegance throughout.
Engineering Marvel
Built on challenging terrain, this home represents a triumph of modern engineering. The structure incorporates extensive earthquake-resistant design elements and features a sophisticated dual-roof system for superior insulation. Every detail, from the interlocking paver patios to the soaring 17-foot-4-inch cathedral walls, was carefully crafted to exceed standard building requirements.
Luxury ADU Design Meets Functionality
The home’s thoughtful design maximizes every square foot while maintaining an open, airy feel. Multiple covered porches and an outdoor kitchen extend the living space seamlessly into nature. The result is a harmonious blend of luxury finishes, practical amenities, and smart space utilization that creates an extraordinary living experience.
Collaborative Excellence
This project exemplifies the power of close collaboration between designer and client. Through multiple design iterations and careful attention to detail, every aspect of the home was tailored to meet the owners’ vision while respecting the property’s unique challenges and opportunities.
This ADU design has 1200sq ft with 17′ high walls and timber frame trusses.
The design and permit were by Chad Williams, designer-builder, and the construction was by the owner.
